The good thing about road sings in Cyprus is that names are written in both Greek and English. However, this convenience is not without its problems
When referring to a place in English, there are still two schools of thought: those who maintain the traditional English name, and others who follow a more recent decision to transliterate the original Greek name.
Some signs actually provide both! Once you’ve seen a few signs, you are likely to understand the system, but to get you started, note the islands major cities. Throughout this guide we have adopted the transliterated version.
